Personal, social and emotional developmentThis area is very important to children just entering into the nursery way of life. We aim for children to become confident when being left by their parent/carer and to feel safe and secure, enabling them to build up a sense of trust with the adults and the children with whom they will be sharing a range of experiences. We aim to allow the children to develop their social skills and to become independent when taking part in and choosing activities of their individual choice whilst learning to accept the needs of others within a group.
Physical development
Throughout the day physical development plays a large part and within a wide range of activities, encouraging their fine and gross motor skills, hand and eye co-ordination, increase their understanding of how their bodies work and what they need to be healthy and safe.
Communication and language
Giving the opportunity for all children to talk and communicate in a widening range of situations, to respond to adults and to each other, to practise and extend the range of vocabulary and communication skills they use and to listen carefully.
